This weekend as our teams line up for week one of the finals series, we also celebrate one of the more impressive milestones the club has seen for a long time.
What can we say about Kane Morris and his 150 games for the Echuca Bombers. Arriving at the club at 24 years of age and standing at a modest 278cm, it’s fair to say that at the time (similarly to his hairline) the club was a far cry from where it is now. Kane was immediately seen as a leader of the club and quickly cemented himself as a premier ruckman of the competition.
Despite people’s inability to understand what he was saying at times, he was welcomed into the club with open arms and made many new life long friends in his first few years. Wins were few and far between, and Kane not only showed up every week but was quite clearly one of the best players on the ground.
As time went on, the Bombers started on the up and this was unsurprisingly aligned with him being announced captain. We’ve since tasted ultimate success at the senior level twice under his rein and his mentorship to the reserves and under 18’s has not gone unnoticed.
We’ve also had the pleasure having his wife Shelby and his two beautiful children at the club almost every week, Kane’s biggest supporters.
His career with the bombers to date will no doubt have him going down as one of the greatest to ever pull on the bottle green. Absolutely typified by being inducted as a life member of the club.
Go well Mogga.
